About Us: Artera is an AI startup that develops medical artificial intelligence tests to personalize therapy for cancer patients. Artera is on a mission to personalize medical decisions for patients and physicians on a global scale.

As a Scientific Director, you are a key part of the Clinical Development team. In this role, you will contribute to the overall strategy for implementation as well as execution of Artera model development and evidence generation while being mindful of established timelines, budget and quality standards. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, and be assigned primary responsibility for multiple clinical areas which are prioritized by the company and may evolve over time as we continue to grow.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Writing research proposals and manuscripts in collaboration with members of the Clinical Development and AI teams
  • Working with artificial intelligence and clinical research teams to prepare and execute on model development, evidence generation, and publication plans
  • Building collaborative relationships with external data partners, as well as key internal stakeholders including Research, Product Development, Regulatory Affairs, IT, Legal, Finance departments, and project teams as needed to support clinical trials data access and AI researchers working with it.
  • Contributing to the building of department infrastructure, including developing, training, and retaining new members to the clinical development team; ensuring prioritization of activities and resourcing is in line with clinical development programs.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Life Sciences, medicine, or other relevant discipline.
  • Experience in oncology and/or digital pathology research required, with a track record in peer-reviewed publications
  • Experience collaborating with artificial intelligence scientists
  • Experience with biomarker development and validation (not discovery) is preferredStrong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Analytical thinker with problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as evidenced by a strong publication record.
  • Ability to travel for up to 20% of the time, depending on company needs.
