Job description

Artisan Partners seeks a highly motivated, detailed oriented and intellectually curious Trading Assistant to join EMsights Capital Group, the firm’s newest autonomous investment team that is focused on investing in emerging and frontier debt markets.

The Trading Assistant will have high exposure to emerging markets debt and derivative instruments and will work in a close-knit team with abundant learning opportunities. This role will be responsible for providing pre-and-post trade support functions, as well as supporting other investment functions. Instruments supported include USD and emerging market currency denominated bonds, FX (spot, forward, options), interest rate swaps, credit default swaps, futures, and total return swaps. The Trading Assistant will be expected to frequently provide creative solutions to the unique challenges of emerging markets investing.

The ideal candidate for this role will be a team player who is passionate about the capital markets and wants to learn and grow professionally.

Responsibilities

The candidate can expect to:

  • Set up trades in order management system
  • Confirm settlement details of all cash and derivative trades
  • Monitor margin requirements of cleared and bilateral trades
  • Resolve any failed trades
  • Liaise with custodian and fund accountants to ensure accurate fund holdings and accounting details
  • Create reporting on relevant fund details for Traders and Portfolio Managers
  • Set up and maintain trading relationships in a broad range of markets, including emerging and developed markets

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • 2-4 years of related professional experience
  • Passion for capital markets; personal or professional exposure to emerging markets, a plus
  • Willingness to perform structured tasks with a high sense of urgency and excellent attention to detail
  • A self-starter mindset with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and demonstrated ability to prioritize
  • Ability to cope with changes and uncertainty; team player able to identify what needs to be done and contribute
  • Strong knowledge or desire to learn programming and data analysis skills
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external partners, from peer group to senior managers or service providers
  • Foreign language skills, a plus
  • Undergraduate degree in related discipline
