Tanjie McMeans has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Tanjie is currently a Software Engineer II at Artsy since 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Democracy Works from 2020 to 2021 as a Full Stack Software Engineer where they played a crucial role in developing software for the benefit of voters and election administrators. Tanjie collaborated with Google on the How To Vote project, which gained widespread impressions across Google Maps and Search tools. From 2019 to 2020, Tanjie served as a Full Stack Software Engineer at Octave, contributing to their mission of combining therapy, coaching, classes, and technology. Before transitioning into the tech industry, Tanjie gained valuable skills and experience as a Special Education Teacher at Success Preparatory Academy and KIPP McDonogh 15 Middle School for the Creative Arts. Tanjie also worked as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant at English Junior Seminar and as a Career Associate at the Center for Career and Professional Development at Kalamazoo College. They then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Art History from Kalamazoo College, where they studied from 2008 to 2012. Later, they pursued a Master of Social Work degree in Mental Health Counseling/Counselor from New York University, attending from 2016 to 2017. Lastly, in 2018 and 2019, they enrolled at Turing School of Software & Design to specialize in Front End Web Development, attaining a degree in Software Engineering.
