Viola Yao

Viola Yao has a diverse work experience in the art and cultural field. Viola started their career as a Research Project Assistant at Academia Sinica in Taiwan in 2014. From there, they worked as an Exhibition Assistant at Xue Xue Foundation and as a Public Relations Assistant at DC Creative Co. Ltd. In 2015, Viola completed an internship at Bonhams. Viola then joined Sonic Territories as a Project Manager in 2018, where they successfully organized an art residency in Kinmen and showcased the results in Berlin. Viola also worked at Xue Xue Foundation as an Exhibition Coordinator and Course and event organizer, where they managed exhibition spaces and conducted promotional activities. Viola further expanded their skills and experience at Setouchi Triennale as an Artist Assistant, at Cans Contemporary Art News as an Exhibition Executive, and at Liang Gallery as an Art Consultant and Sales and Marketing Manager. Currently, Viola holds the position of Account Executive at Artsy since 2023.

Viola Yao completed their Master of Science (MSc) degree in Modern and Contemporary Art: History, Curating, and Criticism from The University of Edinburgh in 2016. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in History from National Chung Hsing University, which they attended from 2010 to 2014. Additionally, in 2013, Viola participated in the Spring/Summer Semester at the University of California, Davis.
