Terry McCarthy

Terry McCarthy has a diverse and extensive work experience. Terry has served as the Chief Executive Officer of The American Society of Cinematographers, where they managed various aspects of the organization and successfully pivoted towards online activities during the pandemic. Prior to this, they were the President of The American Academy in Berlin, overseeing its operations and organizing notable events. Before that, they worked as the President & CEO of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council, implementing a successful turnaround plan and increasing membership. Additionally, they worked as a media training consultant, conducting sessions for executives and acting talent. McCarthy also has experience as a correspondent for CBS News, ABC News, and TIME magazine, covering stories in Afghanistan, Iraq, East Asia, and other locations. Terry'swork has earned him accolades, including an Emmy and Edward R. Murrow Award.

Terry McCarthy attended University College Dublin from 1979 to 1983, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in German, Philosophy, and Greek. In 2013, they were awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Literature from the same university.
