Stéphane Viala has over two decades of experience in aviation engineering. Stéphane currently holds the position of Engineering and Program Director at Ascendance Flight Technologies since February 2023. Prior to that, they worked at ATR from 2015 to 2023, where they served as the SVP Engineering and previously as the Chief Engineer and Head of Engineering Integration. Before joining ATR, they had a long tenure at Airbus Group, starting in 1998. At Airbus, they held various roles, including Chief Project Engineer for A320 Incremental Development, Head of R&T Overall Aircraft Design (OAD) Architect, Project Leader of Flight Test Demonstrators, Head of New Program Flight Physics and Flight Dynamics Integrated Team, A350 Flight Performance Integrated Team Head Deputy, Aerodynamics Methods Team Leader, and Manager of Icing, Aerothermal, and Aerodynamics Methods Development. Stéphane also had a brief stint at SEDITEC, where they worked on Icing and Aerodynamics methods development.
Stéphane Viala completed their Engineer's degree in Aeronautics/Aviation/Aerospace Science and Technology, General from ENSMA, from 1989 to 1992. Stéphane then pursued a PhD in Fluid Mechanics at ONERA, from 1993 to 1995.
