Esther Revai Lechtich has worked in a variety of roles in the scientific field since 2010. In 2010, they were a Visiting Student at the Molecular Biology Laboratory of the Structural Biology Department, IVIC, where they performed DNA extraction from blood samples and different molecular biology tests, such as DNA electrophoresis, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and Single-Strand Conformation Polymorphism (SSCP). In 2011, they were a Medical Technologist Intern at Ambulatorio Rural "La Milagrosa" and Hospital Vargas de Caracas - Banco Municipal de Sangre, where they obtained blood samples from patients and manually processed blood and other biological samples for tests in biochemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and coproanalysis. Esther also obtained blood samples and performed tests for malaria diagnosis. In 2012, they were a Laboratory Coordinator and Bioanalyst (Medical Laboratory Scientist) at Centro Diagnóstico IPLF, where they obtained blood samples from children and adult patients, from the emergency area, hospitalized and ambulatory, and performed different tests to blood and other biological samples in the areas of biochemistry, hematology, coagulation, immunology, urinalysis, and coproanalysis. Esther also supervised an eight-member team working at the laboratory. From 2016 to 2017, they were a Technical Research Assistant I at the Center for Stem Cell Therapeutics & Imaging - Mass General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where they performed lentiviral packaging, confirmation and organization of DNA bank and database, and organization of cell bank. From 2017 to 2020, they were a Senior Technical Research Assistant and Technical Research Assistant II at the Center for Stem Cell Therapeutics & Imaging - Brigham & Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where they followed the fate of tumors, stem cells, and evaluated different treatments for multiple types of tumors, both in vitro and in vivo, as well as performed tissue sectioning and immunohistochemistry staining, and collected whole blood samples (phlebotomy) from healthy donors and isolated peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Finally, from 2020 to 2022, they were a Research Technologist at Dotto Laboratory - Cutaneous Biology Research Center - Massachusetts General Hospital, where they characterized protein interactions after gene silencing in squamous cell carcinoma lines through different molecular biology techniques, performed tissue sectioning and immunohistochemistry staining, and mammalian cell culture. Currently, they are a Principal Associate Scientist at Ascidian Therapeutics, where they are cloning therapeutic plasmids by Golden Gate Assembly and performing mammalian cell culture and transfection.
Esther Revai Lechtich earned a Master's Degree in Molecular and Cell Biology from Brandeis University between 2015 and 2016. Prior to that, they obtained a Licenciado en Bioanálisis (Medical Laboratory Sciences) from Universidad Central de Venezuela between 2006 and 2012. In addition, Esther is certified as a Technologist in Molecular Biology by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) since February 2022, and as a Medical Laboratory Technologist by the American Medical Technologists since April 2019.
