Premesh Chandran

Premesh Chandran serves as the Chairperson of Asia Mobiliti since July 2018 and previously held roles including Senior Advisor to the CEO at the Media Development Investment Fund from March to July 2024, and Asia Pacific Executive Director at Open Society Foundations from March 2022 to February 2024. From October 1999 to March 2022, Premesh was the Chief Executive Officer of Malaysiakini, Malaysia's leading news site, with over 8 million readers in four languages. Premesh has also contributed as a Business Coach at the Coach and Grow Program (2013-2018), Entrepreneur In Residence at the Media Development Investment Fund (2016-2017), and Guest Trainer at the International Institute of Journalism (2007-2012). Earlier positions include Research Officer at the Malaysian Trades Union Congress (1997-1999) and Journalist for Sun Media Group (1994-1997). Premesh holds a Master's degree in International Studies from the University of Sydney and a Science degree in Physics from UNSW.
