Steven Hackett

Steven Hackett is an accomplished Professor Emeritus of Economics at Cal Poly Humboldt, with extensive experience in instructional and research leadership. Over several years, Steven held various key titles including three-time Chair of the Department of Economics and Associate Dean of the College of Professional Studies, where significant contributions included curriculum design and program development. Additionally, Steven acted as an outside chair for a Business School in crisis, successfully initiating a program of transformation. In the consulting field, Steven serves as a Senior Economist for Aspen Environmental Group and as a Senior Consulting Economist through S.C. Hackett. Steven began academic career as an Assistant Professor of Economics at Indiana University, where a focus was on rebuilding the PhD program. Educational qualifications include a PhD and MS in Economics from Texas A&M University and a BS in Agricultural Business and Management from Montana State University-Bozeman.
