Nick Geib, P. Eng has a extensive work experience in the oil and gas industry spanning over several companies.
Their most recent role was as the Manager, Operations Support at Aspenleaf Energy Ltd starting in March 2021. In this position, they were responsible for overseeing safety systems, marketing, asset retirement, environmental monitoring, regulatory submissions, and ESG reporting.
Prior to that, Nick worked at Husky Energy for a significant portion of their career. Nick held various roles including Vice President, Operational Services where they led a division responsible for drilling and completions activities, asset retirement, regulatory applications, and environmental operations. Nick also served as the Vice President, Corporate Responsibility where they were accountable for environmental stewardship, industrial hygiene, emergency response, and security. Additionally, they held positions such as Director, Asset Retirement where they led a team in executing abandonment of wells, decommissioning of facilities, and site reclamation, and as Director, Oil Sands Planning & Development and Director, Sunrise Subsurface, where they oversaw strategic planning, capital budgeting, commercial arrangements, and execution of capital projects for oil sands facilities.
Before their time at Husky Energy, Nick worked at Devon Energy where they held positions such as Thermal Reservoir Engineering Manager, Commissioning Manager, Lead Operations Engineer, Exploitation Engineer, and Senior Natural Gas Marketer. In these roles, they focused on SAGD reservoir development and optimization, commissioning of facilities, operation of production facilities, exploitation of conventional gas reservoirs, and natural gas marketing.
Throughout their career, Nick has demonstrated leadership skills, driving a culture of safety, adherence to procedures, and efficiency. Nick has also played a key role in developing and executing environmental and asset retirement programs and has been involved in industry and government forums to influence policy and regulations.
Nick Geib, P. Eng completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Calgary from 1983 to 1987. After finishing their degree, they obtained the Professional Engineer (PE) certification from The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) in April 1991.
