Chrissie Thompson has a diverse and extensive work experience in journalism and education. Chrissie is currently the Director of the Education Reporting Network at The Associated Press since 2022. Prior to that, they worked as the Education Editor at USA TODAY from 2018 to 2022, where they led a team of reporters and focused on illuminating policy and inequities in education.

From 2013 to 2018, Chrissie worked at The Cincinnati Enquirer as the Columbus Bureau Chief. Chrissie planned and edited politics coverage and was involved in the Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative project "Seven Days of Heroin." Chrissie also worked as a State Capital Reporter covering state and national politics during this time.

Before their time at The Cincinnati Enquirer, they were an Automotive Business Writer at the Detroit Free Press from 2010 to 2013. Chrissie covered the General Motors beat and was part of a team that won the Gerald Loeb award for breaking news.

Chrissie also has experience in the field of education. Chrissie worked at the University of Michigan in various roles, including Career Consultant Intern at the Engineering Career Resource Center, Graduate Intern at the Office of Student Affairs in the School of Education, and Graduate Intern at the Office of Student Affairs in the College of Engineering. During these internships, they provided career counseling to students and worked on career development initiatives.

Additionally, they have previous experience with Automotive News as a Reporter covering the General Motors beat and with the Associated Press as a News Intern covering Baltimore news. Chrissie started their career as a City Desk Reporting Intern at The Buffalo News and later as a Reporting Intern at The Courier-Times.

Chrissie Thompson has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Media Communication from Taylor University, which they obtained from 2004 to 2008. Chrissie also has a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration from the University of Michigan, which they completed in 2012.
