Originally founded in 1976 as a subgroup of the the American Association for Higher Education, founding members created a separate organization that has evolved into a diverse association of higher education scholars. Today, ASHE offers professional development, volunteer opportunities, and resources to support all career levels of researchers, practitioners, and thought leaders involved in the study of higher education.
