Doug Blum, FSA, MAAA has a diverse work experience in the actuarial field. Doug started their career as an Actuarial Assistant at Lincoln Benefit Life Insurance Company in 1995 and worked there until 2000. Doug then joined OneAmerica where they held various roles, including Associate Actuary. In this role, they prepared financial reports, provided models for asset adequacy testing, and consolidated information from business units. In 2009, they moved to Colorado Banker's Life where they served as an Actuary. Doug took on multiple responsibilities, such as pricing/product development, valuation/financial reporting, and managing an in-force block of various insurance products. In 2017, they joined Lewis & Ellis as a Vice President & Consulting Actuary, specializing in life insurance and annuities. Doug provided actuarial consulting services, worked as an appointed actuary, and supported auditing, product development, financial reporting, and compliance. Since 2019, Doug has been working as the Sr. Director of Corporate Actuarial at Assurity, where they continue to bring their expertise to the actuarial field.
Doug Blum, FSA, MAAA, obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics/Actuarial Science and Business Administration from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where they studied from 1989 to 1994. In addition to their undergraduate education, they have also earned the FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) and MAAA (Member of the American Academy of Actuaries) certifications in 2008.
