Olaf Panknin

Olaf Panknin is an accomplished medicinal chemist with extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Currently serving as Director and Team Leader in Medicinal Chemistry at AstraZeneca since October 2021, Olaf previously held the position of Senior Research Scientist and Project Leader in Medicinal Chemistry at Bayer from June 2008 to September 2021. Prior to this, Olaf worked as a Medicinal Chemist at Sobi - Swedish Orphan Biovitrum AB between September 2006 and May 2008. Olaf's academic background includes a postdoctoral fellowship at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, where research focused on Organic Synthetic Methodology under the guidance of Peter Somfai, as well as a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry and Total Synthesis from The University of Göttingen. Additionally, Olaf participated in a research visit to the University of Gothenburg to study Organic Chemistry with Göran Hilmersson.
