John Busch Jr.

John Busch Jr. has diverse work experience in various engineering roles. John currently works at Astrobotic as a Senior Avionics Engineer, holding this position since February 2023. Prior to this, they served as an Avionics Engineer II at Astrobotic from December 2021 to February 2023.

From 2018 to 2021, John worked at IAM Robotics as an Electrical and Embedded Systems Engineer. In this role, they designed electrical systems and PCBAs using Altium Designer. John also developed bare-metal C codebases for sensor data aggregation and control.

In 2018, John worked at Sensors, Inc. as an Embedded Software Engineer.

From 2016 to 2018, John was a Graduate Student Research Assistant at the University of Michigan, where they collaborated with Dr. R. Brent Gillespie and the Haptix Lab.

In 2016, John completed an internship as an Embedded Software Engineering Intern at Harris Corporation, where they improved network management logic and established a messaging framework.

In 2015, John also interned at Harris Corporation as a GCS Intern, where they developed Python scripts and investigated parallel processing options.

In 2014, John worked at Whirlpool Corporation as a WERLD Intern, involved in hardware and software modifications and design experiments for capacitive touch keys.

John gained teaching experience as a Honors First Year Engineering Peer Teaching Assistant at Purdue University from 2013 to 2014, and as a Modern Mechanics Lab Undergraduate Teaching Assistant in 2013.

Additionally, they have worked in customer service as a Parking Lot Attendant at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheater from 2012 to 2013, and as a Programming Contractor at Alltranstek in 2013.

John Busch Jr. completed their education in a chronological order. John attended Oak Forest High School from 2008 to 2012, where they achieved the honor of being the salutatorian. Following high school, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Engineering at Purdue University from 2012 to 2016. Finally, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Robotics at the University of Michigan - Rackham Graduate School from 2016 to 2018.
