Tom Lister

Tom Lister is a senior partner and was the co-managing partner of the international private equity firm Permira, based in London and New York, from 2008 through 2020. Prior to that, he served as head of Permira’s North American business from 2005 through 2008. During his time as co-managing partner, Mr. Lister served on Permira’s Investment Committee and Executive Committee and serves as the Fund Minder for the private equity funds P4–P7. At Permira, Mr. Lister has worked on several transactions, including Aearo Technologies, Kroll, Freescale Semiconductor, Genesys, Intelsat, Jet Aviation, and NDS, and has oversight of Permira Debt Managers, the firm’s direct lending/credit business. Prior to joining Permira in 2005, he was a partner at private equity firm Forstmann Little & Company, where he spent 13 years, and led investments in IMG, Community Health Systems, Thompson Minwax, and Ziff Davis, among others. Mr. Lister graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a dual degree in chemistry and political science from Duke University in 1986. He received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and was named a George F. Baker Scholar and a John Loeb fellow in Finance. He currently serves on the board and as Greens Chair at Deepdale Golf Club in Manhasset, NY.
