Ellen Cousins has a diverse work history, starting in 2007 as an Engineering Intern at Creare. Ellen then worked as an REU Intern at NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center, where they conducted image processing and statistical analysis.
In 2008, Cousins transitioned to the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College, initially as a Teaching Assistant, where they facilitated programming sessions and evaluated student assignments. Later, they became a Research Assistant, focusing on data cleaning and statistical analysis of ionospheric observations. Ellen also developed predictive models based on the observations and presented their findings at scientific meetings.
Cousins joined the National Center for Atmospheric Research in 2012 as a Postdoctoral Fellow. During this time, they conducted self-directed research utilizing data mining and machine learning techniques to extract information from ionospheric observations. Ellen developed new data processing and analysis procedures and gained new insights into controlling processes.
In 2014, Cousins began their work at Athenium Analytics, starting as a Data Scientist and eventually progressing to roles such as Director of Data Science, VP of Data Science, and Chief Science Officer. In these positions, they created weather data products for clients, developed predictive models using machine learning techniques, and played a significant role in building a large weather data database.
Since November 2019, Cousins has held the title of Chief Science & Technology Officer at Athenium Analytics and as of September 2022, they are now the Chief Innovation Officer.
Ellen Cousins pursued their education at Dartmouth College. From 2004 to 2008, they completed their Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Science. Following their undergraduate studies, Ellen continued their academic pursuits at Dartmouth College and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Engineering Science between 2008 and 2012.
