Vinay Thanki has a diverse work experience spanning different roles and companies in the financial industry. Vinay started their career as an Actuarial Analyst at Skandia in 2007, where they were responsible for preparing reserves and MCEV schedules, calculating solvency, and completing FSA returns. Vinay then moved on to become a With Profits Actuarial Analyst, monitoring solvency and investment performance, and setting bonus rates for the with-profits fund. At Skandia, they also served as a Financial Reporting Manager, leading a team in managing reserves, producing MCEV results, and implementing new actuarial valuation models.
In 2013, Vinay joined Old Mutual Wealth and took on the role of Business Planning and Financial Reporting Manager. Vinay was responsible for producing business plans, overseeing financial reporting, and managing a team. Vinay later became a Finance Business Partner, collaborating with the Executive committee to find solutions for challenges and opportunities in the business. Vinay also led Mergers and Acquisitions across the distribution division, handling financial appraisals, deal structuring, and Finance Due Diligence.
In 2017, Vinay moved to Quilter and became the Group Capital Actuary. In this role, they worked on capital initiatives involving Solvency II, ICAAP, and Working Capital. Vinay was also involved in the listing process, raising solvency capital, and executing day 1 liquidity strategy by collaborating with stakeholders. Vinay later became the Head of capital projects and systems, responsible for managing capital projects and systems implementation.
Most recently, in 2023, Vinay joined Athora as the Director of Financial Planning.
From 2004 to 2007, Vinay Thanki attended the University of Southampton, where they completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in economics and actuarial science.
