Elmar Hellendoorn

Elmar Hellendoorn is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, focusing on the GeoEconomics Center and Economic Statecraft Initiative since March 2020. With extensive experience as a self-employed consultant since January 2015, Elmar Hellendoorn provides specialized analysis and strategic insights on complex geopolitical challenges, serving a diverse clientele in both public and private sectors. Previous roles include Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard's Belfer Center, Nuclear Scholars Initiative Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Lecturer at Universiteit Utrecht, and Eisenhower Research Fellow at the NATO Defense College. Elmar Hellendoorn's academic background includes a Postgraduate Master in EU International Relations and Diplomacy from the College of Europe and advanced studies at Harvard Law School and Utrecht University, culminating in a Ph.D. dissertation on the evolution of the Euro-American nuclear order.
