Silas Decker

Silas Decker began their professional career in 2014 as a Landscape Foreman for Artistic Garden and Landscape. In 2020, they became the Aquatics Manager for All Pets Club, where they utilized Microsoft Office Excel to code a program to allow employees to enter a weight of an animal and have the dosages for all the medication types to be displayed, and rounded to the appropriate value. In 2021, they began working as an Undergraduate Student Researcher for the National Science Foundation (NSF). Later that year, they became an Undergraduate Researcher for The Zhang Group, where they facilitated laboratory staff and graduate students in various projects. In 2021, they also began working as a Research and Development Intern for Robust Product Development, where they designed and setup a laboratory with clean room conditions suitable for growing bacteria, yeast, and mammalian cells. Currently, Silas Decker is an Associate Research Engineer at AtlasXomics Inc., where they lead efforts in improving the liquid flow in microfluidic chips. Silas is also the lead engineer on a project that they took from an idea to a transformative proof of concept that has been provisionally filed for patent, all the way to a first generation product.

Silas Decker has a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from the University of Connecticut, which they obtained between 2018 and 2022.
