Brian Maertz

Brian Maertz has had a diverse range of work experience. Brian began their career as a Graduate Student Researcher at UCSB Physics, where they worked from September 2006 to February 2013. Brian then joined Intel Corporation as a Technology Development Engineer, working from June 2013 to September 2016. Following this, they worked at Freedom Photonics LLC as a Senior Process Engineer from September to December 2016, and later as a Principal Process Engineer from January 2017 to October 2018. Most recently, they have been with Atomica (formerly IMT) in various roles, including Technical Program Manager from October 2018 to October 2019, VP of Engineering from October 2019 to September 2021, and currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer since September 2021.

Brian Maertz earned their Bachelor's degree in Physics from UC San Diego, where they attended from 2002 to 2006. Following that, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics at UC Santa Barbara, completing their studies from 2006 to 2013.
