Susan Miller has 10+ years of experience in science writing. Susan began their career in 1989 as a Predoctoral Fellow at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. In 1994, they moved to Harvard Medical School as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, where they wrote, edited, and reviewed journal manuscripts, briefings/slides, posters, abstracts, literature reviews, and grant applications. Susan also designed and conducted independent research projects, resulting in advancements in the understanding of PTEN phosphorylation. In 1997, they moved to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, where they wrote, edited, and reviewed journal manuscripts, grant applications, lliterature reviews, posters, and abstracts. Susan also designed and conducted independent research projects that demonstrated a role for the p53 tumor suppressor in translational control and studied the interaction between cyclin D1 and the estrogen receptor as a transcriptional regulator. In 2016, they became self-employed as a Freelance Medical and Science Writer, and in 2018 they were appointed as the Director of Grants Strategy at Projects in Knowledge Powered by Kaplan.
Susan Miller obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology, magna cum laude from the University of Utah between 1986 and 1988. Susan then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Molecular Biology at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center UTHealth Houston Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, which they completed in 1994.
