Mirla Edmundson is an experienced leader in library and community services, currently serving as the Chief People Safety and Wellbeing Officer at Auckland Council since November 2010, where responsibilities also include oversight of 21 community libraries in the Auckland region. Prior to this role, Mirla led Manukau Libraries as Group Manager, overseeing a network of 13 branches. Additional experience includes a secondment as Change Manager for Regional Parks and roles at Library and Learning Services, including Director, where achievement in service quality was recognized by NZQA. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Canterbury and a Diploma of Librarianship from Victoria University of Wellington.
