Joris de Wit has extensive work experience in scientific research and academia. Joris is currently a Scientific co-founder at Augustine Therapeutics since December 2019. Prior to that, Joris was a Professor at KU Leuven, Department of Neurosciences starting from October 2019. Joris also held the position of Vice Director at VIB-KU Leuven Center for Brain and Disease Research since September 2018.
Joris has been involved in various roles at VIB Center for Brain & Disease Research, KU Leuven Department of Neurosciences since January 2013, including Group Leader/Associate Professor.
Before joining KU Leuven, Joris gained research experience at the University of California, San Diego as an Assistant Project Scientist and as a Postdoctoral fellow. Joris also worked as a Postdoc at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, CNCR.
Joris started their career in scientific research as a PhD student at the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience in November 1998.
Joris de Wit began their education at Grotius College Heerlen, where they completed high school from 1986 to 1992. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Biology at Utrecht University, from 1992 to 1998. Upon completing their degree, Joris received a Master of Science (MSc) in Biology from Utrecht University.
