Alex Joiner

Alex Joiner currently serves as Chief Economist at IFM Investors since June 2016 and is a Committee Member of the Australian Business Economists since February 2018. Previously, Alex held the position of Chief Economist (Australia & New Zealand) and Economist at Merrill Lynch from April 2012 to June 2016, specializing in Australian macroeconomics and financial market analysis. Prior to that, Alex worked at ANZ from 2005 to 2012 as Associate Director for Consultative Risk Management and as an Economist, focusing on risk management and macroeconomic analysis. Alex holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics from Monash University and a Bachelor's degree with first-class honors in Economics from La Trobe University. Additionally, Alex completed the Trustee Director Course at the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees in 2021.
