Jack Schmidtke is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in the energy sector. Currently serving as General Counsel at the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) since July 2019, Jack has previously held the position of Acting General Counsel within the same organization and worked as a Senior Lawyer from April 2014 to 2019. A notable secondment at the Energy Security Board involved leading the legal workstream for the National Energy Guarantee in 2018. Prior legal roles include positions at DLA Piper, Pfizer, Herbert Smith Freehills, and the Federal Court of Australia. Academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with First Class Honours and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of Sydney, as well as executive education from Harvard Kennedy School and a Graduate Membership from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
