Dr Mariko Smith is currently the First Nations Collections & Engagement Manager at the Australian Museum. Prior to this role, Dr Smith held positions such as Indigenous Collections Repatriation Officer and Assistant Curator at various institutions. With a background in Sociology, Museum Studies, and a Bachelor's degree in Arts/Law, Dr Smith has a strong academic foundation. Passionate about Aboriginal tied-bark canoe making initiatives, Dr Smith has presented research on Aboriginal social justice and legal history. Dr Smith has also served as a Sessional Tutor, Student Ambassador, and Volunteer at various events and conferences related to Indigenous Australia.
