Auterion builds a cutting-edge operating system for autonomous robotic systems that empower a diverse range of platforms to perform surveillance, reconnaissance, inspection, mapping and logistics tasks. Our industry-leading software drives the adoption of robotic fleets and is recognized by the U.S. government as the future standard for its drone programs. 

We are looking for a Senior System Test Engineer skilled in developing automated component and integration test systems for Auterion’s software and hardware stack. You will be working closely with:

  • Linux systems running on embedded hardware
  • CI server infrastructure, both on-premise and in the cloud
  • Custom-built test benches, providing an easy interface to hardware components
  • Engaged and friendly engineers from across Auterion

Responsibilities

  • Work within the Board Support team, supporting the work of hardware engineers from the software side.
  • Architect and implement quality control test frameworks to validate system health before products are sold and sent to customers.
  • Take charge of improving the reliability of Auterion software, by optimizing existing CI/CD pipelines and deploying new ones.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and product teams to understand both internal and customer use cases.
  • Boost engineering test practices and processes across Auterions.
  • Experiment with test strategies, make decisions on what tools best suit our use cases and deploy them on our platforms.
  • Prepare test design documents to accompany test implementations.
  • Improve coverage and robustness of tests.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in architecting, implementing and maintaining end-to-end automated test software, whether fully custom-built or running on an automation platform like Jenkins CI or Github Actions.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Familiarity with embedded hardware and electrical concepts, at least to diagnose common failure points.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and experience applying it in a QA context. 
  • Python proficiency, with at least one testing framework (e.g. PyTest). 
  • Bonus: experience with other languages/frameworks.
  • Familiarity with containerization systems like Docker.
  • Proficiency with Linux and bash commands.
  • You believe in improving the design, documentation and quality of test systems. 
  • You can work autonomously and take ownership of your projects.
  • You’re a communicator, comfortable working entirely in English, with a diverse and international team.
