Chief Privacy Officer at The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets

Graciela van Doornum has extensive work experience in various legal and privacy-related roles. Currently, they serve as the Chief Privacy Officer at The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets since October 2022. Prior to this, they worked at the Immigratie- en Naturalisatiedienst (IND) where they held positions such as Senior Privacy Jurist, Privacy Jurist, and Procesvertegenwoordiger from July 2011 to October 2022. Graciela also worked as a National Expert at the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) for a brief period in June-August 2016. Furthermore, they gained experience in legal and policy-related roles at Commissie Gelijke Behandeling from November 2005 to July 2011. Before that, they worked as a Juridisch Medewerker at Hagg & Van Koesveld advocaten from October 2010 to February 2011. Graciela also served as the Coördinator werkgroep Europees/sociaal recht at Vereniging Vrouw en Recht from an unspecified start date to November 2010. Their earlier work experience includes a student internship at Ausma de Jong advocaten in 2007 and positions as a Kok/bar medewerkster at Kafé België from an unspecified start date to 2006, and as a Barmedewerker at Café Falstaff te Maastricht from an unspecified start date to 2002.

Graciela van Doornum attended Melanchthon College in Rotterdam from 1994 to 2001. After completing their secondary education, they enrolled at Utrecht University in 2002 and obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree in Nederlands recht with a minor in Criminology in 2005. Graciela continued their studies at Utrecht University and earned a Master of Laws degree in Nederlands recht with a specialization in Strafrecht (Criminal Law) from 2006 to 2009.
