Souvanna Southammavong

Souvanna Southammavong has a diverse and extensive work experience. Starting in 2000, they worked as a Life Science Teacher at Ankeny Community Schools, where they taught approximately 130 7th grade students each year and received a nomination for Teacher of the Year. In 2004, they transitioned to the insurance industry, initially joining Allied/Nationwide/Titan & Victoria Insurance as an Associate Staff Product Manager for Specialty Products (Boats). In this role, they managed 16 states for the Pleasure Boatowners product, analyzed underwriting and claims procedures, and led product design and distribution efforts. They then became a Senior Marketing Analyst, responsible for promoting and training the product, researching competitors, and implementing systems enhancements. They continued to progress in their insurance career, taking on the role of Staff Product Manager at Nationwide/Allied/Titan & Victoria Insurance in 2007, where they managed 16 states for the Pleasure Boatowners product across all distribution channels. They also led the analysis and process management of product design, distribution, sales, and marketing for a countrywide program. In 2008, they joined Allied Insurance as a Regional Product Manager, overseeing personal lines products in Minnesota and Indiana. They consulted regional leadership on premium growth and profitability, managed all personal lines products, and achieved a combined Direct Written Premium of $140M. In 2012, they briefly worked as a Senior Market Segment Manager at Wellmark before transitioning to Kemper in 2013, where they served as a Product Manager. They joined Fortegra Warranty Solutions in 2018 as the Director of Warranty & Consumer Products Underwriting, responsible for overseeing the underwriting of warranty and consumer products. Most recently, they started working at National Auto Care in 2021 as the Director of Product Development. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Director of Product Development at APCO Holdings, LLC.

Souvanna Southammavong earned a Bachelor of Arts and Science Education degree at the University of Northern Iowa from 1995 to 1999. Afterwards, Souvanna pursued a Masters in Business Administration at Iowa State University from 2005 to 2007.
