The Department

Technical Development area comprises of Software & Data Development teams, Group Data Production teams, the Technical Delivery teams, Contractors and 3rd Party Development and is part of a wider IT Operations team that provides a variety of IT services to the Autovista Group business, including; desktop support, storage, networking, server virtualisation, monitoring, Windows and Linux operating systems, databases, applications and projects. Software & Data Development area provides applications support and development for existing applications, new development, products and services, including tools and data production (activities include developing and maintaining all data import, processing, generating, encrypting and delivering data to internal and external Customers and editorial tools) in the Autovista Group. The area is also responsible for managing and improving operational processes from source data through to output, as well as producing quality internal analytics to assist the wider business in decision-making and policy creation.

The Role

The key requirement of the role is responsible for ensuring the technical delivery of software project(s) that span across one or more countries. Working with the Technical Leads/Managers to manage resources needed for each project, schedules and adhere to stage gate quality and SDLC control guidelines throughout the full systems development life cycle. This also includes management of any software & data development issues, risks and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery. Contribute to process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving technical development delivery.

The Senior Technical Delivery Manager will work with Scrum Master and Project Manager to deliver projects using agile and waterfall methods and will play a number of different roles in actual practice:

  • At an enterprise level, leading and managing the technical delivery of large, complex enterprise-level projects consisting of multiple Agile and non-Agile teams and/or requiring integration with other activities outside the scope of the teams
  • At a team level, playing a consultative role to help put in place the appropriate people, process and tools as needed to optimize the efficiency of the development teams

In situations that require a hybrid Agile approach, using good judgment and skill to develop a delivery approach that is suitable for planning and managing the effort to achieve the technical delivery goals within designated project constraints.

The Candidate

As a Senior Technical Delivery Manager, you will Manage the technical delivery portfolio of complex software and data projects that span one or multiple teams.  For some of these projects you will work with a Scrum Master or Project Manager or both to provide on-site leadership for the delivery teams by building and motivating team members to meet development delivery goals of a project, adhering to their responsibilities to deliver solutions and project milestones.  You will manage all aspects of the technical delivery and program engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, change, risks and issues, monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables.  You will provide to the Project Manager reports on technical delivery, test and deployment management activities. 

You will be able to work well in a team in a remote environment. Good time management skills are very valuable to help ensure deadlines are met. Strong experience presenting to executive sponsors and demonstrated communication skills; both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff, all levels of management is a must.  Knowledge of the automotive industry is a big advantage, if not an ability to pick up new information quickly.
