Egondu K. Ohamara, MPH, CHW

Egondu K. Ohamara has a diverse range of work experience in the healthcare field. From 2019 to the present, they worked at Avenue 360 Health and Wellness as a Health Promotions Specialist. In this role, they provided HIV/STD health screenings for over 500 community members annually and organized community outreach initiatives using various marketing strategies. Egondu also implemented best practices for prevention and disease management, resulting in a 15% improvement in patient retention.

In 2020, Egondu joined the Texas Department of State Health Services as a Disease Intervention Specialist. Egondu K. conducted field epidemiology investigations, interviewed clients to identify disease outbreaks, and collaborated with medical providers and healthcare agencies to ensure coordinated care. Egondu also ensured that patients with STDs received regular HIV testing.

Prior to that, in 2017, Egondu worked at Bee Busy Inc. as a Program Evaluator Intern, where they conducted data analysis and developed evaluation reports for a safer-sex awareness program. Egondu K. also contributed to the development and implementation of research and activities for the program.

Egondu's work experience also includes an internship as an Administrative Assistant at the American Red Cross in 2014.

Egondu K. Ohamara pursued their education at Lamar University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Community Health and Preventive Medicine. Egondu K. began their undergraduate studies in 2008 and completed them in 2014. Building upon their passion for public health, Egondu subsequently enrolled in Lamar University's Master of Public Health program. From 2016 to 2018, they focused their studies on Public Health/Health Disparities and successfully earned their Master of Public Health (MPH) degree.
