Joshua Tuberville is the Chief Architect at AVM Consulting, a cloud strategy and digital transformation consulting firm. Joshua has over 25 years of experience in the software industry, with a focus on cloud computing, event processing, and DevOps.

Joshua began their career as a software engineer at VirtualTourist.com in 1995. Joshua was quickly promoted to CTO in 2015 when the company was acquired by TripAdvisor. At VirtualTourist, Joshua led various strategic technology initiatives, consolidating multiple engineering teams into a unified Paid Marketing team and migrating the company off of its legacy on-premises datacenter onto AWS and Kubernetes-based solutions.

In 2017, Joshua joined SmarterTravel Media as a Principal Software Engineer and Sr. Technical Manager. At SmarterTravel, they continued their work with event processing architectures, introducing Kafka and Spring Cloud Stream to handle millions of email bounces per day. Joshua also created a Hadoop-based Data Lake for CRM data using Kafka, Kafka Connect, and Hive. In addition, Joshua led the SRE team, evangelizing the DevOps culture and supporting tools across all engineering teams.

Joshua joined AVM Consulting in 2020 as Chief Architect. Joshua is responsible for assisting clients with their cloud strategies and digital transformations, applying total systems thinking and everthing as a service (XaaS) principles.
