Elena Ryan

Elena Ryan is an experienced educator and leader currently serving as the Principal of Marie Murphy Junior High in Avoca School District 37 since July 2021. Prior to this role, Elena held the position of Assistant Principal in Wilmette District 39 from July 2017 to July 2021, demonstrating a collaborative leadership style focused on a whole-child approach to education. Elena's background includes serving as Principal of the Glenview District 34 Summer School Program, where a safe and positive learning environment was cultivated, and as Coordinator for Curriculum and Instruction in Fine Arts and Physical Education in Glenview Public School District for 14 years. Elena began teaching General Music for grades six through eight, significantly growing a choral program during that time. Additionally, Elena was the National Director of Education for ChordBuddy, establishing educational resources for classroom implementation. Elena holds a degree in Music Education from DePaul University and a degree in Educational Leadership from Northeastern Illinois University.
