Richard Marks

Richard Marks is currently the Solutions Lead at awanoo. Richard has previously worked as a Senior Software Engineer at both STRIVE and Strive Tech. At STRIVE, they were responsible for designing styled-components based custom theme management for the React Native iOS mobile app. Richard also built custom CLI administration tools and implemented a deployment manager to streamline complicated deployments to multiple DigitalOcean servers. In addition, they integrated BugSnag error reporting into NodeJS, React and ReactNative apps. Richard also spearhead the architecture, implementation, and documentation of a large multi-faceted monorepo codebase. Finally, they developed a BLE communications module for iOS as well as custom visualizations for viewing real-time custom BLE hardware data.

At Strive Tech, Richard led the architectural overhaul of their product which included rewriting major UI and backend business logic modules. This work decreased bugs in the existing product by 30% and improved overall efficiency of development via the new architecture by 66%. Richard leveraged React, Material-UI, NVD3, Meteor, MongoDB, and Cordova technologies for major front-end UI features for a shared desktop and mobile application which communicated over BLE with custom hardware. Richard also designed and developed hundreds of reusable React components. Finally, they onboarded and mentored a junior developer.
