Job description

We are currently seeking an experienced regulatory lawyer with extensive healthcare expertise to work with a nationally-ranked hospital system, providing practical advice on fraud and abuse, privacy, and other related state and federal rules and regulations impacting the practice of medicine. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a sophisticated and well-respected organization on matters greatly impacting the underprivileged community.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise a sophisticated and established healthcare system on a range of regulatory matters, including but not limited to: fraud and abuse, Medicare and Medicaid, investigations management, and accreditation and licensing matters.
  • Review transactions, policies, and playbooks for compliance with false claims acts, self-referral and anti-kickback laws, corporate practice of medicine regulations, and state and federal health information privacy laws.
  • Counsel internal teams on cybersecurity and health information privacy in connection with the rollout of new technologies and methods of health service/information delivery.
  • Provide guidance on regulatory trends and developments at both state and federal levels, and offer advice on clinical research, including conflicts of interest, grants and funding, and research misconduct.

Qualifications: 

  • 8 – 15+ years of expertise in healthcare law with deep knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations surrounding payor processes, privacy, fraud and abuse monitoring, and accreditation and licensing.
  • Strong practical understanding of false claims acts, self-referral and anti-kickback limitations, corporate practice of medicine, and health information privacy laws.
  • Working knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH), the European Union Data Protection Directive and other state laws governing privacy of personal medical information.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with proven experience in relationship building and partnering.
  • Must be willing to work on-site in Los Angeles. A transition period may be possible for exceptional candidates. 

Compensation, Benefits & Location:

This role offers a range of competitive compensation starting at $195,000 and a highly competitive benefits package in the alternative legal services marketplace that includes health benefits, 401K and more.  Axiomites also get access to professional development resources and learning and development programs. Axiomites predominately work remotely, with the exception that some clients require on-site presence.
