Kathleen Burnell

Kathleen Burnell, LPC, NCC, LAC, serves as the Clinical Director at The Center for Mental Health since May 2016, overseeing clinical management across a six-county region and integrating substance use services with a focus on evidence-based practices. Prior roles include Assistant Regional Director, where Kathleen supervised clinical staff, coordinated community partnerships, and enhanced outpatient treatment programs. Experience as a Family Therapist and Youth Treatment Counselor emphasizes a strong foundation in trauma-informed care and crisis intervention. Additional tenure at the Gender Identity Center of Colorado involved therapeutic engagement, crisis assessments, and program development for diverse populations. Kathleen holds an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver and a B.A. in Psychology from Nazareth University.
