About This Role 

Axsome Therapeutics is seeking a strategic and collaborative Manager/Senior Manager, Patient Services.  This new team member will help drive Patient Service Program efforts, ensuring Patients have affordable access to the Company’s innovative medicines. The Manager/Senior Manager, Patient Services is responsible for driving patient service programs to achieve affordable patient access while ensuring appropriate value is maintained for Axsome Therapeutics’ portfolio of innovative CNS therapies. This position will collaborate cross functionally with Pricing & Contracting, Marketing, Field Sales, Finance, and Legal to ensure a balance between affordable and smooth access for patients with supporting the financial goals of the company. This role will also provide ad hoc support to the broader Trade, Distribution, and Patient Service functions within the Market Access team. This role reports directly to the Senior Director, Trade, Distribution, and Patient Services. 

This role is based at Axsome’s HQ in New York City with an on-site requirement of at least three days per week. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles.   

 Job Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  •  Close monitoring of patient service programs to gather insights and trends to inform business rules thus ensuring the goals of the program are being met 
  • Closely collaborate with Pricing & Contracts, Marketing, Finance, and Market Access leadership to ensure access initiatives are executed and evaluated for effectiveness 
  • Management of third-party vendors that provide services and programs on behalf of Axsome, including Co-Pay Program, Voucher Programs, and Patient Assistance Program (PAP) 
  • Conduct periodic reviews of business rules for each program internally and with third-party vendors in alignment with current industry best practices and program objectives
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of patient service programs through metrics and measurement development to achieve program objectives
  • Identify opportunities to improve patient access and address barriers through collaborative alignment with multiple internal teams
  • Work with internal cross functional partners (Broader PSP team, brand marketing, legal, regulatory, etc.) and external groups to insure integration and consistency of business strategies and regulatory compliance of programs
  • Provide strategic guidance to Leadership on patient service programs, trends in the industry, updates related to compliance and applicable laws/regulations for current products and future pipeline
  • Ensure compliance with Axsome’s corporate policies and procedures and U.S. healthcare laws and regulations
  • Consistently execute multiple projects in an on time and on budget manner 

 Requirements / Qualifications 

  •  Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of experience in Patient Service, Trade, Distribution, or other Market Access related activities within the biotech industry 
  • Ability to work on site Monday, Tuesday & Thursday 

 Experience, Knowledge and Skills 

  •  Analytical mindset and experience directing and managing activities that are critical to both the home office and field sales 
  • Strong understanding of industry trends in the pharmaceutical patient services landscape 
  • A problem-solving mindset with demonstrated “lean-forward” approach and ability to think critically 
  • Previous product launch experience, preferably in the CNS space 
  • Familiarity with current legal and regulatory landscape pertinent to the industry 
  • Strong planning and organization skills, attention to detail, execution, and follow-through
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a hybrid environment
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to influence decision makers and educate variety of internal audiences on complex concepts. 

 Salary & Benefits 

The anticipated salary range for this role is $100,000 - $130,000. We encourage candidates of all levels to apply as there may be flexibility on final job title and responsibilities. The salary offer will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity, and location.
