Laura López de Frutos has over 18 years of work experience in the field of medical research and laboratory management. From 2022 to present, they have been the Regional Medical Director Europe at AZAFAROS B.V., where they are responsible for identifying and evaluating countries for clinical trials, establishing scientific contact with experts in various diseases, and creating links with patient associations. From 2018 to 2022, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher and Laboratory Manager at the Spanish Foundation for Gaucher disease and other lysosomal diseases study and treatment (FEETEG), where they built and maintained relationships with clinicians, actively collaborated in scientific sessions for both patients and clinicians, consulted for scientific experts boards on rare metabolic diseases, and refereed in an expert laboratory on inborn errors of metabolism. From 2014 to 2018, they were a Predoctoral Researcher at the Foundation for Hematology and Hemotherapy's research in Aragón, where they built scientific-based relationships with clinicians, organized and participated in scientific sessions for clinicians and patients, spread research project results by oral and poster communications in national and international congresses, prepared and submitted articles to impact factor journals, and collaborated in other research projects. From 2013 to 2014, they were a Cytogenetics specialist at the Donostia University Hospital. From 2005 to 2013, they were an Oncohemalogy Cytogeneticist at the Balague Center, where they were responsible for training and communication, diagnosis, technical and analytical samples preparation, conventional and molecular cytogenetic's analysis, chromosomal fragility test, and MLPA technic set up to Charlot-Marie-Tooth's diagnosis. From 2005 to 2003, they were a Cytogeneticist at the Clinical Biochemistry Institute - Barcelona Clinical University Hospital. From 2003 to 2005, they were a Laboratory Technician at EGARLAB, where they were responsible for anticoagulant therapies monitoring and setting up blood typing and coombs tests.
Laura López de Frutos has an extensive education history. Laura obtained a Bachelor in Biology from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in 2003. In 2010, they earned an MsC in Human Biology from Universitat de Barcelona. From 2015 to 2018, they earned a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Universidad de Zaragoza. In 2021, they earned a Master's degree in Medical Science Liaison from Universidad Europea Miguel de Cervantes. Laura is currently working towards a Master's degree in Lysosomal Diseases from Universidad de Alcalá. Additionally, they have obtained various certifications, such as an EFSET English Certificate 76/100 (C2 Proficient) from EF Standard English Test (EF SET) in 2021, a Design and Interpretation of Clinical Trials from Coursera in 2021, a Fundamentos de Genética para Clínicos from Universidad de Alcalá in 2020, a Doctorado en Bioquímica y Biología Molecular from Universidad de Zaragoza in 2018, a Curso de Biología Molecular from Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 2015, and an Estadística para investigadores: Todo lo que siempre quiso saber from Miríadax in 2015.
