Jonathan Bortz MD has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Jonathan has worked as a Vice President of Nutrition Science at Balchem Corporation since 2016. Prior to that, they served as the Chief Executive Officer at Xeragenx LLC starting from 2012. Dr. Bortz also founded Bené Consulting LC in 2009. Jonathan has had various consulting roles including being a Medical Affairs Consultant and Chairman of the Albion Advisory Board at Albion Human Nutrition from 2011 to 2016 and serving as a Consultant at Lupin Pharmaceuticals from 2009 to 2014. Additionally, Dr. Bortz held the position of Vice President of Medical and Therapeutic Growth Strategies at KV Pharmaceutical from 2003 to 2009. Before that, they founded and served as the Principal Investigator at Bortz Research Center from 1997 to 2003. Dr. Bortz is also an experienced entrepreneur, having founded Control Diabetes Inc. in 1999 where they developed a web-based electronic diabetes disease management software program. Jonathan also founded and served as the President of The Bortz Diabetes Control Center from 1989 to 2002, which operated multidisciplinary diabetes centers. Lastly, Dr. Bortz served as a Board Member at MicroSense from 1999 to 2001.

Jonathan Bortz MD completed their education in a chronological order as follows:

From 1969 to 1973, they attended Potchefstroom Boys High School, where they completed their Matriculation.

From 1974 to 1979, they pursued their Medical School education at the University of the Witwatersrand, obtaining an MB BCh degree.

Jonathan then joined Mount Sinai Medical Center from 1984 to 1987 for their Residency in Internal Medicine.

Lastly, they attended Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis from 1987 to 1989, completing a Fellowship in the field of Endocrinology & Metabolism.
