Ian Freed has a long and varied work experience. Ian began their career in 1992 as the Founder & President of Ian Freed Consulting. In 1997, they moved to RealNetworks, where they held the positions of Vice President of Mobile, General Manager of RBN, and General Manager of Professional Services. In 2004, they joined Amazon, where they held the roles of Vice President of Restaurants (i.e. 1 hour delivery via Prime Now), Tickets (theater, concerts, etc.), Vice President, Vice President of Amazon Devices (Echo, Alexa, Fire phone, etc.), Vice President of Amazon Kindle, Director of Tech Asst to CEO, and Director of Mobile Services. In 2017, they became an Advisor and Investor at Mavengo, a Member of the Board of Advisors at Voxel8 (Kornit AMT), and a Volunteer at Technology Access Foundation. Finally, in 2018, they became Co-Founder and Chairman, and then Co-Founder, CEO, and Chairman of Bamboo Learning, an education-focused software and services company with a mission to teach using voice-based devices and software.

Ian Freed attended Francis W. Parker School from 1971 to 1981. Ian then pursued a B.A. in Physics from Dartmouth College from 1981 to 1985. Ian then went on to receive a MPP in Science, Technology & Public Policy from Harvard University from 1988 to 1990.
