Director Of Assessment And Post Graduate Courses, Lecturer In Education (research And Teaching) at Bangor University

From 2009 to 2010, Dr. James Wood worked as an EAP lecturer at Bangor University, teaching courses in academic skills and designing bespoke IELTS courses. Dr James also conducted assessments and ensured all their students passed their courses.

In 2011, Dr. Wood held the role of EAP coordinator, research methods instructor, and personal tutor at On Campus (Cambridge Education Group). Dr James coordinated and taught the Academic Literacy and EAP course, co-designed and assessed the research methods course, and provided personal support to students. Dr James also taught IELTS and gained insights into the private education industry's marketing techniques and business model.

In the same year, Dr. Wood also worked as an EAP lecturer at Greenwich University for a brief period.

From 2012 to 2013, Dr. Wood served as an EAP lecturer at UCL, teaching English for Academic Purposes to Master's students. Dr James received positive feedback from students and taught a special subject in English for technology researchers and computer scientists.

At King's College London, from 2013 to 2015, Dr. Wood worked as a lecturer in EAP, research methods, and study skills. Dr James taught a diverse range of students, including foundation students and focused on subjects like referencing, critical thinking, and dissertation skills.

From 2015 to January 2023, Dr. Wood held the role of Associate Teaching Professor and Academic Literacy Coordinator at Seoul National University. Dr James taught courses in advanced academic literacies and conducted sessions on research writing, presenting at conferences, and publishing articles in SSCI journals.

Currently, Dr. Wood works at Bangor University as the Director of Assessment and Post Graduate Courses and a Lecturer in Education. Dr James teaches courses in MA Education, supervises MA students, and is available for supervising PhD/EdD students in various areas. Dr James also leads the department's assessment and academic integrity policy and process, as well as the postgraduate taught courses with a focus on development, quality, student welfare, recruitment, and Welsh language policy and support.

Dr James Wood (FHEA) completed their education history as follows:

- In 1994-1997, they obtained a BA combined honours degree in Politics and Philosophy from the University of Reading.

- In 2008-2009, they earned a PGCE from Aberystwyth University.

- In 2010, they completed a Diploma in TEFL/DELTA with a specialization in English for Academic purposes from Cambridge English.

- In 2011-2012, they pursued an MA in TESOL from IOE - UCL's Faculty of Education and Society.

- From 2013 to 2020, they completed a Doctorate in Education with a focus on Assessment and Feedback with Technology in Higher Education from IOE - UCL's Faculty of Education and Society.

In addition, Dr James Wood has obtained additional certifications, including being an Advance HE fellow (to be obtained in 2023), completing "PowerPoint for Teachers: Creating Interactive Lessons" from LinkedIn in 2019, becoming a Certified Google Educator Level 1 in August 2016, and attending a course on developing an e-learning course announcement in 2016 offered by The Geneva Learning Foundation.
