David Thwaites

David Thwaites is an experienced financial professional with a strong background in operational risk and resilience. Currently serving as the Head of Operational Resilience and Controls at the Bank of China since August 2021, David has held several prominent roles in the industry, including Head of Operational Risk and Assurance at ED&F Man Capital Markets, and Director of Regulatory Controls at Barclays. Additional experience includes leadership positions at Barclays Investment Bank, Aviva Investors, and Credit Suisse, where David was instrumental in designing and overseeing key regulatory controls and managing operational risk across various trading and investment platforms. David also has a foundation in operations from early roles at Merrill Lynch and has an educational background from Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
