Shelby Phillips have a diverse and extensive work experience. Shelby began their career in 2006 as the First Vice President - Senior Legal Counsel at COUNTRYWIDE HOME LOANS, INC where they drafted contracts and legal agreements for the purchase and sale of mortgage loans. Shelby then worked at the FDIC as a Senior Attorney, handling transactional legal issues related to the organization's role as Receiver or Conservator of failed banks. Following that, they worked as an Associate Attorney at Cassin & Cassin LLP, representing institutional lenders and managing the financing and closing of real estate loans. In 2015, they joined Jones, Ackerman & Corman LLP as Counsel, representing institutional lenders and commercial borrowers on loan transactions. In 2017, they were selected by the Board of Directors of Washington Trust Bank to serve as the VP - Corporate Counsel, managing corporate governance issues and supporting various departments. Most recently, in 2021, they joined Banner Bank as SVP & Senior Corporate Counsel.

Shelby Phillips obtained a Doctor of Law degree (JD) from the University of San Diego School of Law from 1998 to 2001. Prior to that, Shelby earned an MBA degree from Suffolk University - Sawyer Business School between 1994 and 1997, specializing in Business. Shelby's undergraduate education was completed at Northeastern University from 1988 to 1993, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Business. Additionally, Shelby obtained a Washington State Bar License from the Washington State Bar Association in 2018 and a California State Bar License from the State Bar of California in 2001.
