John Howchin

John Howchin has a diverse work experience in the sustainable investment and mining sectors. John most recently held the position of Head of European Operations at BanQu Inc., a blockchain-based traceability solution for supply chains. Prior to that, they were a Special Advisor at The Global Investor Commission on Mining 2030, where they focused on addressing systemic risks in the mining sector.

John also has experience as a Founder and CEO of their own advisory service setup called Transition INC., where they offered advisory services. John served as a Global Ambassador for the Global Tailings Management Institute (GTMI), an independent organization focused on driving safety in the mining sector.

Previously, John worked as the Secretary-General of The Council on Ethics of the Swedish National Pension Funds, where they built and managed the council for 12 years. John was responsible for developing responsible and sustainable approaches to corporate engagement and communication with stakeholders. John also served as a Member of the asset management committee at Mistra, Stiftelsen för miljöstrategisk forskning, where they helped build a sustainable investment portfolio.

John has been actively involved in various initiatives related to responsible investment, including serving as a Member of the advisory board for the Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI) and Chair of the ESG engagements advisory committee at Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). John was also involved in co-convening the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management.

Earlier in their career, John worked at Norges Bank as a Senior Analyst, Environmental Issues, where they led work on responsible investment and environmental issues for the Government Pension Fund Global.
