Rafael De Balanzó Joue, PhD, currently serves as the Pratt Barcelona Study Abroad Director at Pratt Institute, overseeing courses related to sustainability and resilience. Concurrently, Rafael holds various visiting professor positions within the Graduate Center Planning and Environment and Mathematics and Science departments, as well as adjunct professorships at City University of New York and Hunter College, teaching on topics including urban economics, community resilience, and climate change. As a senior researcher for multiple NSF-funded projects, Rafael investigates transdisciplinary approaches to STEM education and the integration of design thinking in curricula. With a robust background in sustainability, urban studies, and landscape architecture, Rafael has founded the Urban Resilience Thinking Design Initiatives and contributed to numerous community-driven projects, including various sustainable habitat programs in urban settings. Through extensive academic and practical engagements across multiple institutions, Rafael De Balanzó Joue continues to enhance resilience thinking in urban environments and education.
