Brian P. Kelly, PhD has extensive experience in the field of orthopaedic biomechanics, with a focus on the spine, knee, and ankle. Brian P. has worked as the Director of the Spine Biomechanics Laboratory at Barrow Neurological Institute since 2014. Prior to that, they were an Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center from 2005 to 2014, where they conducted research on in-vitro evaluation of medical devices and surgical intervention. Brian P. also developed and applied multi-axial loading protocols to better simulate in-vivo joint loading conditions. Dr. Kelly began their career as a Research Engineer at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre - Gen. Org. - Jeddah Branch from 1994 to 1998, where they collaborated on research projects with surgeons, scientists, and machine shop personnel. Brian P. also conducted gait assessment and radiographic investigations of the lower limb. Additionally, they have a Ph.D. in biomechanics and completed their doctoral research on the design and application of a robotic-based biomechanical testing platform.

Brian P. Kelly, PhD completed their education in a chronological order. Brian P. began their academic journey at McMaster University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering in 1987. Following this, they pursued a Master of Applied Science (M.A.Sc) in Mechanical Engineering at the same institution, which they completed in 1992. Finally, they attended The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedical Engineering between 1999 and 2005.
