Neem Jitendrakumar Patel, PhD, serves as a Production Sequencing Scientist at Basecamp Research since October 2023. Prior to this role, Patel was a Scientific Researcher at the University of California, Berkeley from August 2017 to August 2023, where significant contributions were made to the understanding of soil microbial communities in post-fire environments. Patel also held various leadership positions, including Project Director for the Womxn of Color Initiative, facilitating impactful events such as the Empowering Womxn of Color Conference. Additionally, Patel's experience includes roles as a Graduate Student Instructor and a Graduate Assembly Case Manager. Earlier, Patel worked as an Assistant Research Scientist at New York University, focusing on meiotic processes, and held various research positions at institutions such as the New York Academy of Sciences and Georgia State University. Education includes a Ph.D. in Microbiology from UC Berkeley, a Master’s in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology from New York University, and a BS in Biological Sciences from Georgia State University.
