Jian Gan has extensive experience in materials and nuclear fuels research and development, currently serving as a Directorate Fellow and Distinguished Scientist at Idaho National Laboratory since February 2005. Jian Gan leads the Advanced Characterization Department and holds the position of Deputy Director for the Energy Frontier Research Center focused on Thermal Energy Transport under Irradiation. Prior roles include Senior Staff Scientist at Idaho National Laboratory, Scientist at Argonne National Laboratory specializing in radiation tolerant materials, and Postdoctoral Fellow at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory with a focus on radiation effects and dislocation dynamics. Academic credentials include a PhD in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Michigan, an MS in Physics from Central Michigan University, and a BS in Physics from Fudan University, where Jian Gan also previously taught as a Lecturer and Assistant Professor.
