Manager Upstream Process Development at Bavarian Nordic

Jesper Tjørnhøj Rosenkrantz has extensive work experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Jesper started their career at Danfoss as a Trainee in 1996 and then worked at CSIRO as an IAESTE Trainee in 2001. In 2002, they briefly worked as an Internal Sales Consultant at Exiqon.

From 2000 to 2003, Jesper served as an Assistant Teacher at the Technical University of Denmark, where they were involved in various courses related to biological chemistry, molecular genetics, and experimental molecular biology.

In 2005, Jesper worked as a PhD student at Monash University. Following that, they joined the University of Copenhagen as a Research Assistant from 2008 to 2013. In this role, they focused on quantifying Salmonella in raw milk and developing a fast quantitative method for surveillance studies.

Jesper then transitioned to Novo Nordisk in 2014, where they initially served as a GMP Intern in the QC Laboratory. At Novo Nordisk, Jesper later became a Chemist in the Aseptic Filling Department. Jesper managed particle monitoring equipment and software, optimized the system, and prepared operating procedures, deviations, change requests, and qualifications.

Following their time at Novo Nordisk, Jesper joined Bavarian Nordic in 2017. Jesper started as a Process Specialist in a single-use vaccine manufacturing facility, where they supported the entire production chain from upstream to final freeze of Bulk Drug Substance. Jesper actively participated in license to operate tasks, such as SOP preparation, deviations, change requests, and equipment qualification. Jesper then took on the role of Scientist in Upstream Process Development, where they focused on vaccine production using single-use bioreactors and perfusion technology. Currently, they hold the position of Manager in Upstream Process Development at Bavarian Nordic.

Jesper Tjørnhøj Rosenkrantz completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in an unspecified field of study from the University of Copenhagen in 2014. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Engineering with a specialization in Biotechnology from the Technical University of Denmark in 2003.
